WILD HOG HUNTING PRICING November - March HOGS GONE WILD on the 4J RANCH! $1.50 per pound for the first Wild Hog for each hunter. $1.00 per pound for each additional Wild Hog $50.00 Per Day booking fee for each hunter. - If we skin and quarter -------------- 50.00 per hog. - A wounded wild hog that leaves a blood trail but not found is priced at $100.00. - Prime time for blind hunting is early morning or late afternoon.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO HUNT OF FOOT, BE PREPARED. WHAT YOU NEED FOR A HOG HUNT ON FOOT All Year - The 4J Ranch cabin is within a mile from the hunting area. - Hunters rest, eat, store extra cloths, supplies, and ice chests at the cabin. - Good fitting knee high rubber boots to run though brush, mud and water. - Leather gloves to cope with low branches and thorn bushes. - Baseball hat to protect you from the sun and low branches. - Cooler(s) large enough to store quartered hog(s) - Ice for cooler is purchased in Centerville. - A small, lightweight backpack that contains the following supplies that can be carried into the woods: - Bottled water - Two-Four 8oz. bottles. - A few bandaids for cuts and scratches. - Energy snack - Ammunition (Twenty rounds for revolver and/or bolt actions) - Extra pair of dry socks. Wild Hog Hunting November to March During the winter, the temperature will drop down into the low twenties. Hunters should wear multiple layers of cloths. After running through the adverse conditions, hunters can peel off a layer of cloths to prevent the body from overheating and sweating. Wet clothes will cause hypothermia. Wild Hog Hunting March to November - Light weight, long sleeve shirt. - Light weight long pants. - The cottonmouth, copperhead, and rattlesnake are commonly found in East Texas riverbottoms. - Hunters may want to ware flexible snake chaps or watertight snake boots. Equipment that enhances the wild hog hunting experience - An inexpensive hand-held two-way radio to communicate with everyone on the 4J Ranch. - A fixed blade knife with a blade at least 3 inches long. - Compact Binoculers (7x or 10x that will fit in a shirt pocket.) - Barrow (AKA 'Bar'): A male wild hog that has been neutered. - Boar: An adult male wild hog kept for breeding purposes. - Piglet: A newborn wild hog, weighs 2-4 pounds - Feeder pig: A piglet weaned from the sow, also known as 'weaner' or 'shote' pig. - Gilt: A female wild hog that has never given birth. - Sow: An adult female wild hog that has given birth. - Farrow (verb): A sow giving birth. - Litter or Farrow: A group of piglets born at one time from the same sow. - Runt: The smallest piglet in the litter. - Market hog: A barrow or gilt up to 243 pounds for meat production.
